Want to learn to speak Spanish muy rapido (very fast)? MTSU’s Center for Accelerated Language Acquisition is offering a five-day accelerated Spanish class during the university’s spring break March 7-11.
The Spanish Part 1 class will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. each day in Room 106 of the Paul W. Martin Sr. Honors Building at MTSU. Classes are for residents age 13 and older, and discounts are available for MTSU faculty, staff, alumni and students.

An elementary school teacher who took Spanish Part 1 in January said: “The methods provided practice and repetition in many, many different ways. I was speaking, reading and writing in Spanish! I couldn’t believe I was doing it.”
The center, also known as CALA, is the official language training operation of the University Honors College at Middle Tennessee State University. Spanish Part 2 will be offered at the summer CALA Language Institute held from June until August.
CALA has spent more than a decade researching how the brain learns language best with the experts in the field of psychology and brain research. Research shows the best way to learn a language is the same way you learned your native language — with lots of hands-on methods that are enjoyable and take place in a fun, low-stress atmosphere using movement, songs, games and stories.
